The Orion Observer 90mm Equatorial Refractor Telescope is an ideal choice for beginning skywatchers seeking a low-maintenance instrument capable of delivering vivid, sharp images of the Moon, planets, and brighter deep-space objects. Boasting a fully anti-reflection coated 90mm-diameter (3.5") front lens, this telescope packs substantial magnifying power.

With the included 25mm and 10mm Plossl eyepieces, users will enjoy high-contrast views of distant worlds at 36x and 90x magnification. Jupiter's cloud bands and all four of its major moons are easily discernible, while Saturn's rings appear sharp and dazzling. The lunar surface teems with craters and mountains in rugged relief.

While the Observer 90 EQ excels at lunar and planetary observing, it can also provide impressive vistas of more distant celestial wonders. At 36x, the Orion Nebula exhibits the four Trapezium stars as perfect blue pinpoints surrounded by greenish gas. Increasing the power to 90x with the 10mm eyepiece causes the nebulosity to span nearly the entire field of view. In the summer sky, the Great Hercules Star Cluster (M13) starts to resolve into tiny stellar pinpoints.

A 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser allows for dialing in the sharpest possible view, while the 90-degree star diagonal provides a comfortable observing angle. A 6x30 crosshair finder scope helps users locate their targets with ease.

The Observer's sturdy equatorial mount can be quickly polar-aligned, enabling easy "tracking" of celestial objects as they move across the sky. Both slow-motion knobs can be used to precisely center objects in the telescope's field of view. The extendable aluminum tripod offers solid support and includes an accessory tray for keeping extra eyepieces and Barlows within reach.

Weighing under 17 lbs. total with the easily removable counterweight, the Observer 90 EQ is highly portable, making it easy to take outside for impromptu observing sessions. This wonderfully capable equatorial refractor telescope provides beginning stargazers an exciting gateway to the wonders of the solar system and beyond.
